ITINERARY:Day 01 – Sandakan
Meet and greet at Sandakan and transfer to the Hotel. At leisure to explore Sandakan wet market and the town.
Day 02 – Sandakan – Selingan Island by boat (1.2 m) [B/L/D]
Enjoy your 1-hour boat journey to Selingan Turtle Island, a main nesting area for the Green Turtles and Hawksbill Turtles. Relax, swim or snorkel. Be amazed by the sight of turtles laying eggs and baby turtles scrambling to the open sea upon released on the shore.
Day 03 – Sandakan – Sepilok Orang Utans – Gomantong Cave – Kinabatangan River (155 km) [B/L/D]
Enjoy you overland journey to the world-famous Sepilok Orang Utans Rehabilitation Centre. Witness the feeding of Orang Utans and be charmed by orphaned baby orang utans at play. Proceed to Kinabatangan. Visit Gomantong Cave. Embark on a river cruise in search of wildlife. The lower reaches of Kinabatangan River have the greatest concentration of wildlife in Borneo. Stay at a lodge along the river bank.
Day 04 – Kinabatangan River – Sabah Tea Plantation (135 km) [B/L/D]
Enjoy a 1½-hour boat trip to experience the dramatic change of colors in the horizon as dawn sets in at six o’clock in the morning. Be amazed with the scenery of colourful birds, some of the bird species found here are the elegant egrets, kingfishers, oriental darter, the swift, bee-eaters, and hornbills. Visit the Orang Sungei tribe and learn traditional cooking.
Day 05 – Sabah Tea Plantation – Kiau Village (232 km) [B/L/D]
Explore the tea plantation and the tea factory (closed on Monday & Public Holidays). At the Poring Hot springs go on a trek before embarking on an exhilarating adventure at the Canopy Walkway. Soak your feet at the hot spring for a well-deserved treat.
At your homestay Kampung Kiau (Kiau Village) mingle with the villages and experience their activities in their daily life for e.g. planting, rice wine making. Plant a tree to help their reforestation efforts. Your visit will help make a difference to the local community as they learn to appreciate more their culture and forest
Day 06 – Kiau Village to Kota Kinabalu (78 km) [B/L]
Enjoy a half day excursion to Kinabalu National Park at the base of the highest mountain in Southeast Asia. Explore this botanist’s paradise with over a thousand species of orchids, numerous Rhododendrons and pitcher plants as well as many species of birds. Take a guided nature walk and visit the exhibition hall. Transfer to Kota Kinabalu.
